What to do…
Having a bit of a blah day today… Feeling a tad homesick and wondering go home to NZ on my planned date, or stay in Europe longer…. Today I have been away from home for officially 6 months.
It is crazy being away, it really makes you appreciate home, and your friends and family. Dont get me wrong, I love Europe and traveling but feel like I am at the end of my journey… If that makes sense?
I have had a friend recently come back from a month away, who has decided that she is going to leave chch (home) in the near future as there isnt anything there. I think I was like that before I starting working fulltime, but it seemed to change when I settled down and got into a routine.
Just not sure what to do….
Hey Stacey,
The whole thing of getting back and feeling like ‘nothing is here’ is really common, even after just a month away to somewhere like London. You miss the buzz and crowds, but that’s when you’re on holiday, and we don’t live our lives in perpetual holiday mode. We live 8.30 to 5 work days (even the self employed!) and no matter where you are you still come home at night sit on the couch and wonder about ‘life’s big questions!’. After getting back from London it was a relief to get into my car and be where I wanted to be in 5 minutes!
Don’t worry about coming back as scheduled - you are still really young and have many years for going back if you decide to. Don’t be there because it’s something you think you have to do, be there because you want to be. And if you are that homesick, just come home!
Thanks Michelle!!
