What to do… 2

Having a bit of a blah day today… Feeling a tad homesick and wondering go home to NZ on my planned date, or stay in Europe longer…. Today I have been away from home for officially 6 months.

It is crazy being away, it really makes you appreciate home, and your friends and family. Dont get me wrong, I love Europe and traveling but feel like I am at the end of my journey… If that makes sense?

I have had a friend recently come back from a month away, who has decided that she is going to leave chch (home) in the near future as there isnt anything there. I think I was like that before I starting working fulltime, but it seemed to change when I settled down and got into a routine.

Just not sure what to do….

Sugar Craft Beginners Course - Week 1 0

Last night I had my first class of my Sugarcraft course. Was fun! Small group (6 in total) so really good environment to learn. The first lesson was how to make sugar paste roses, how to iced a circle and square cake, and also how to frill and crimp a cake. The tutor made it looked so easy, but believe me it wasnt!

We also got to choose what our final cake will be…. Hard choice - Winne the Pooh, Tigger or Barbie… haha I really dont know… Can I pick none?

Beginners Cake Decorating Course 1

Today I signed up for a beginners cake decorating course at Dublins Cakebox.ie. This is something I have been wanting to do for ages, but struggled to find a speciality course for this in Christchurch. The course runs for 6 weeks, start on Tuesday 23rd September.

Although the course focuses on some ‘childlike’ themes, eg Barbie and Winnie the Pooh cakes, hopefully I will be able to master the basics and apply the techinques to my own designs!

I will add some pictures during the course to show my progress!

Byte - a mixture of my love of food and web design! 0

Ever since I was a child, I have been in love with cooking and food. During my training as a web designer, I supported myself by working weekends in a local cafe in my hometown, Christchurch, New Zealand. I fall in love with the buzz of a cafe environment and the people I meet over the years.

I am currently on my OE (Kiwi slang for a Gap year) where I am travelling around Japan, Italy, Greece, Spain Croatia, England, Ireland also the USA. I have now been travelling for 6months, and have come to the conclusion that my passion lies in the culinary arts. Of course, I do not want to discard my love of Web Design, but I wish to merge to 2 passions together to make the dream job for future. Hard you say?? I think not!!

This is where the idea of Byte came about. A website that incompasses both web design and cusine.  On this blog your will read my rants on web design as well as documenting my love of food.

ENJOY!
